Free Plagiarism CheckerSimilarity and duplicate content checker for SEO
Check your text for copied and paraphrased passages before you publish. Paste up to 50,000 words or upload a file, and see each match highlighted next to the public web page it came from.
Free, no sign-up. Or upload a TXT, Markdown, Word or PDF file up to 10 MB.
What the plagiarism checker shows
Every match is highlighted in your text and tied to its source, so you can see what to quote, cite or rewrite.
Exact matches in red and paraphrased matches in amber, each linked to the page it came from.
Originality score
How much of your text matches none of the public pages checked, with exact and paraphrased matches counted separately.
Exact wording
Sentences copied word for word, or nearly, from a public web page.
Paraphrased meaning
Passages reworded from a source but saying the same thing, which simple word-matching tools miss.
Matching sources
The web pages your text matches, with how much of your text each one covers.
Side-by-side comparison
Select a highlight to see your sentence next to the text on the source page.
Long texts and files
Check up to 50,000 words at once, or a Word or PDF file, and get one report for the whole document.
How to check for plagiarism in three steps
1. Paste or upload your text
Paste 20 to 50,000 words, or upload a TXT, Markdown, Word or PDF file up to 10 MB.
2. Check your text
Press Check plagiarism. Each sentence is compared with public web pages, and matches are highlighted as they are found.
3. Review and fix
Open each highlight to compare it with its source, then quote, cite or reword what needs it and check again.
Check before you publish
SEO and website content
Make sure new pages and product descriptions are your own before they go live, so they have a fair chance to rank.
Writers and agencies
Check freelance and client content before you deliver it or pay for it.
Essays and reports
See which sentences sit too close to a source, then quote, cite or rewrite them before you submit.
Find copies of your content
Paste text from your own page to see which public pages repeat it.
Good to know before you check
Honest limits, so you read the report the right way.
Public web pages only
It compares your text with public web pages. It does not search private databases, paid journals or student paper archives.
Unique means unique in the pages checked
A 100% unique result means no match in the pages checked, not a promise about the whole web.
Deleted after 24 hours
Your text and report are kept for up to 24 hours so the report stays available, then deleted.
Overlap, not intent
A match shows that text overlaps with a web page. It does not prove plagiarism intent or academic misconduct.

Plagiarism checker: questions
Is this plagiarism checker free?
Yes. You can check text without signing up.
How many words can I check?
From 20 to 50,000 words at a time, or a file up to 10 MB. PDFs can have up to 300 pages.
Which files can I upload?
TXT, Markdown, Word (DOCX) and PDF files, up to 10 MB.
Does it detect paraphrasing?
Yes. It flags passages copied word for word and passages that were reworded but say the same thing, and shows them separately.
Can it help me fix plagiarism?
Yes. It shows exactly which sentences match and the page each one comes from, so you can quote, cite or reword them, then check the text again.
Is it a similarity checker?
Yes. The report shows how much of your text matches each source page, and how much matches nothing in the pages checked.
Does it check academic databases or student papers?
No. It checks public web pages only, not private databases, paid journals or student paper archives.
Is duplicate content bad for SEO?
Google tries to show one version of content that appears in several places and filters the rest. Original wording gives your page the best chance to be the one that is shown.
Is my text stored?
Your text and report are kept for up to 24 hours so the report stays available, then deleted.
